How do I text my BFF?

NurtureTalk wants to make sure it is easy for you to pick up your phone and reach a BFF, and that all your information remains private and secure. To do this we use a healthcare communication tool called Spruce. Once you purchase a subscription we will send you a link to download this app, create an account with the Spruce phone app for free, and you can begin chatting right away!

Ps: NurtureTalk is using Spruce as our HIPPA secure texting provider as we build our own service that will best meet the needs of moms, dads, and babies. Stay tuned!

Is my information secure?

The Spruce communication app is verified as a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) secure service. What HIPAA secure means is that it verifies that a service follows the Public Law 104-191, that outlines national standards for electronic healthcare transactions, security, data storage and use of healthcare information. Please read our privacy policy for more information.

How long will it take me to receive an answer?

After talking to over 200 moms, we know that when it comes to caring for your baby, you want and need answers to your questions fast. In addition, we learned that current ways to get answers from healthcare providers is taking too long! At NurtureTalk our mission is to make sure you have the information you need when you need it. Our goal is to connect you to a BFF as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that our BFFs have tons of knowledge and experience by having their own cluster-feeding crises, pumping sessions, diaper blow-outs, and toddler tantrums, so it may take up to an hour for a response. What if the information I receive is not what I wanted?

Our two-way texting platform is tested as the easiest and fastest way for you to get reliable infant feeding information that is tailored to you and your baby. However, using text to communicate can sometimes convey the wrong tone, meaning, or sometimes the darned autocorrect takes over. If you feel that a BFF is moving away from what you really want or need please let them know! You know your baby and your infant feeding needs best, it is our job to make sure we are giving you the most helpful information possible.

What is different about this as compared to searching internet sites or using social media?

On average, posting to facebook groups, searching google, or scrolling on instagram for infant feeding information takes equal time to changing 6 or more diapers. SIX DIAPERS! We know that it is important to new moms to continue to have social connections to the outside world, even during the dark 3am feed. Social media and the internet are great for that. However, moms who use NurtureTalk find that they receive better tailored information that they know is healthy for them and their baby, without any time-consuming fact checking, self-doubt, or the risk of negative social media attention (you know Debbie Downer is always lurking on that social group). Imagine all the cute baby-selfies you can post with the time you will save!

How do I share this information with my partner or physician care team?

Guess what, our phones are always with us. Have you ever thought about things that you want to discuss with the pediatrician and then left the list at home? Were there times you weren’t sure how to address the feeding issues that have been bothering you at daycare? Or do you need to find a way to talk to your partner about how they are using whipped cream to mix the rice cereal? We are here for you! All of your questions and all of our answers are kept secure on your phone. You can read from your BFF conversation, take a screenshot, or hand over your phone to whoever you want to educate. You can even text a BFF continued concerns or questions that come up in real time!

What if I want to cancel my service?

We want to be here for you through the snuggle sessions, the midnight feeds, and the sometimes endless cluster feeding. However, if you have concerns about our service you can ask us for a full refund within the first 1 week of your subscription (see {terms of service} for full details). Our mission is to excel to your expectations and help you to meet your feeding goals, please let us know if we can do better! If you choose to cancel your subscription with us we will delete your account. Please note that subscription gifts are not eligible for a refund.

What is sent if I order a subscription as a gift, and will I get it in time?

Giving the gift of a Best Feeding Friend is easier than searching for ‘onesie’ on Amazon. Once you pick the package you would like to give, fill out the name and phone number or email of the person you are gifting it to, let us know your email, and we will send the gift certificate right to your inbox. From there you can print-no wrapping needed! If you are sending long-distance, we can send the gift certificate right to the inbox of the new momma or daddy.

What if I need in-person breastfeeding help or assessment?

Our services work to provide on-demand, preventative, and tailored infant feeding help. We work to save you time, money, and make sure you have the information you need to meet your feeding goals. Just like in any area of healthcare, sometimes moms and babies need extra help from their Dr. team or even in person assessment from a breastfeeding expert such as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). If it comes to a point that it is best for you or your baby to get checked out we will help you make that decision and direct you to the right type of professional to contact. Does my insurance cover this service?

Good news! NurtureTalk accepts Health Savings Accounts (HSA); just enter that card number for payment. In terms of other insurance coverage, under current regulations and insurance guidelines, NurtureTalk is not yet accepted as an accepted service. YOU CAN HELP CHANGE THAT:

  1. Using NurtureTalk to help improve your success with your infant feeding goals and advocate for you and your baby’s nutrition-health will help us to continue to advocate for increased coverage for infant feeding help for all moms and dads.
  2. Call your insurance carrier and tell them about us!
